Griffin catches some Clipper luck

Griffin will be grounded for up to six weeks with a broken kneecap

Welcome to Clipperland, Blake Griffin. The NBA’s top overall pick and world’s biggest Cabbage Patch Kid lookalike caught his first typical Clipper break, this one to his kneecap, and is sidelined for up to six weeks. Griffin looked pretty nice this preseason too, averaging 13.7 points and 8.1 boards per game for the Clips, who open the season tonight against that other team from LA and play 20 games in the first six weeks, to give an idea of how much action the rookie will miss.

Griffin apparently suffered a stress fracture in the Clippers’ final preseason game and was originally listed as questionable for tonight with a sore knee before the injury was revealed to be a bit more serious. Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby, a pair of big men that know a thing or two about street clothes themselves, will be called upon to step up in Griffin’s absence.

As for the Clippers, it’s really bad to see them dealt some more misfortune, since their owner is generally regarded as one of the finest men in all of sports. (Actually he’s not.)
