To Brad Lidge: Congratulations on a job done

Lidge saves the day (barely)

Three straight saves — Brad Lidge is back! I really hope Philly fans aren’t convinced by that, because I’m certainly not. Lidge closed out the Phillies’ 8-6 win in last night’s NLCS opener against the Dodgers despite giving up a leadoff hit and a walk, using a sharply-hit double play ball to come out unscathed. Starter Cole Hamels again wasn’t his 2008 self but managed to come out with the win thanks to three-run shots from Carlos Ruiz and Raul Ibanez.

The Phillies and Dodgers are back at it this afternoon, while the Yankees and Angels open the ALCS tonight at Yankee Stadium.
