Angels clinch division, pay tribute to teammate killed by drunk driver

Ummm...not necessary, if you ask me

Ummm...not necessary, if you ask me

Is it just me, or is it bad taste to douse a deceased teammate’s jersey with alcohol after winning a division, as the Angels did with Rick Adenhart’s Monday? Does the fact that Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver make it worse? Is there ever a proper time to poor perfectly good beer anywhere other than into peoples’ mouths?

I realize I’m asking a lot of questions this week, but any answers would be appreciated…

  2. It’s up to them how they salute him. I, personally, don’t have a problem with pouring out some liquor. I think with the way they handled adversity, and still won the division, they’re allowed to celebrate any which way they want.

  3. Yeah, it’s obviously a traditional celebration and I don’t question the Angels’ sincerity. With that said, it’s still a bit of a sensitive subject for the families of those involved, so hopefully it sat well with them.
