As rough as this season has been for the Argos, it has been just as misfortunate for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The two teams, each 3-8 in 2009, meet at Canad Inns Stadium Saturday night in a battle for third place in the East.

The Bombers, losers of three straight by a combined 79 points, had a busy week — on Sunday they sent receivers Romby Bryant and Arjei Franklin to Calgary for Jabari Arthur, Titus Ryan and Odell Willis and added quarterback Ricky Santos from Montreal on Monday, sending defensive ends Riall Johnson and Shawn Mayne to the Alouettes. Bryant led Winnipeg with 1,206 receiving yards last year but has struggled thus far in 2009, catching just 20 passes and failing to score a touchdown. Johnson was acquired from Toronto in February in the deal put Zeke Moreno in Double Blue.

The Argos, meanwhile, weren’t able to ride the high from their home win against Hamilton in Week 11 to a victory in B.C. last Saturday, falling 23-17 to the Lions. The Argos and Bombers have met twice this season with the road team winning both times — Toronto took a 19-5 decision in Winnipeg Jul. 24 and the Bombers followed with a 13-12 win at Rogers Centre Aug. 1. Michael Bishop made his season debut in the latter game, but the Winnipeg quarterback has struggled since: In seven games, Bishop has just four touchdown passes to 10 ten interceptions while completing just half of his pass attempts.

Argos quarterback Cody Pickett will be looking for a strong game of his own after struggling against B.C.. Pickett had his worst outing of the season against the Lions, completing just 11 passes and throwing two interceptions. Jamal Robertson, fifth in the CFL with 740 rushing yards, scored his team-high seventh touchdown in the game.

The Argos and Bombers meet Saturday nine (eight Eastern Time).
