Dorsey set to return to Argos’ lineup

Dorsey makes his season debut Saturday

Late last week, it looked like Dominique Dorsey was set to catch on with the Washington Redskins. After leading the team in punt and kickoff return yards in the preseason, he was told he’d start the NFL season on the team’s practice roster, only to have the team pull the spot from under him Sunday. A few days later, he’s back in Toronto and ready to make his season debut for the Boatmen Saturday night in B.C..

Dorsey, the CFL Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2008, returned to practice Tuesday and is expected to take over some of the return duties this weekend. Coach Bart Andrus plans to work him into the offensive scheme, though it may take some time for Dorsey to adjust to the new playbook. He’s getting the hang of things quickly, he claims.

“It’s coming along great,” he said after practice today. “When you’ve been out here before, you get in the flow of things. I’m just trying to pick up where I left off.

“It’s a new offense, so I have to pick up the new termiology. But as far as getting out there and going hard, I have no problem doing that.”

The Argos are in B.C. to face the Lions Saturday — I’ll check in with a full game preview tomorrow.
