It don’t get no better than Scott Rolen

Scotty Role, getting some much-deserved love

Scott Rolen, you truly are a legend. Can anyone else not get enough of this guy? If you’re a Toronto baseball fan and looking for a reason to stay interested the rest of this forsaken season, look no further than the greatest third baseman to have ever played the game. An exaggeration? Nooooooo way. Rolen dipped back into his bag of tricks this afternoon in a shocking 6-2 win over the Red Sox, picking up a pair of hits and making one of the finest defensive plays you’ll see this season.

Rolen wasn’t the only story today — Mark Rzpecynski pitched strong innings to pick up his first career win, giving up just four hits and one earned run. Adam Lind hit his 20th homer for the Jays — a two-run shot in the fifth — and Jose Bautista hit a two-out, two-run double to help put the game out of reach early.

The Jays and Sox are back at it tomorrow afternoon at Rogers Centre, with Roy Halladay taking the hill against the heroic Jon Lester.
