Pitchers dropping like flies

Roy Halladay -- Not a real doctor, apparently

Roy Halladay -- Not a real doctor, apparently

Another day and three more Blue Jays pitchers headed to the disabled list. Yeah, that seems about right. Roy Halladay, Scott Downs and Casey Janssen are all headed for some time off and Brad Mills, Jeremy Accardo and Brett Cecil are all on their way to the big club. Mills, a fourth-round pick in 2007, makes his major league debut tomorrow afternoon against the Phillies. Accardo is finally back after missing most of last season and being blacklisted by Cito Gaston after Spring Training (rumor has it he named names). He’s 2-1 with nine saves and a 3.38 ERA in Vegas, where those numbers will stay, like all things that happen in Vegas.

Halladay’s injury isn’t anything to be too alarmed about, at least according to the Jays crack squad of savvy, motivated personnel. He’s retroactive to last Friday and is expected to be back as soon as he’s eligible, which is June 27 against Philly. Downs sprained his left big toe on a first step explosion out of the batters box last night and Janssen has some inflammation in his surgically-repaired shoulder — always great news. No word yet on how long they’re out for.
